Description of process:

WALLS, FLOOR, AND STAIRS: I created the archway in the Spline Editor and added points to give it depth. I used the Slice command on this object and the back wall. A brush map is used for color and as a bump map on the walls & the floor. I used the Statue texture on the stairs.

FLAMES: I started with a primitive sphere and began to draw some points upward using magnetism. After that I dragged points around randomly to create different flame shapes. Attributes: Fog length .100006; Ghost Fog texture: length @ T 260, T 1; light source with controlled falloff.

TORCH BRACKETS: The figures were posed in Fractal Design's Poser and exported as DXF. I added ram-style horns to them in Imagine. The horns were created by shaping a disk primitive and extruding it along a curved path.

THE GUY: Poser was used to create the guy. Leggings and boots were created by creating subgroups of faces with different colors than the rest of him.

THE CHAIN MAIL ON THE GUY: The upper part of the chain mail was created by cutting the torso away from a copy of the guy and enlarging it. The skirt was created by chopping the top off of a cone and then moving points around to get the proper shape. A brush map was used on these for both color and bump-mapping. There is a belt, too, which is just a slightly modified cylinder.

FOG ON STAIRS AND FLOOR: The fog on the stairs and on the floor were each created by forming a big blob by squashing a sphere primitive, particlizing it randomly, and making it a fog object with fog length of 100.

THE WOMAN: She was started in Poser. In Imagine, I took one of my flames and altered it to make hair (she was hairless). I merged the hair to her head. ATTRIBUTES: fog length 5; Ghost Fog texture Length @ T 5, T 1.

POST-PROCESSING: Post processing was done with Corel's Photo-Paint 6. This consisted of cleaning up artifacts on the woman, and a little on the flames and the guy's hand and helmet. Also, the torch bracket figures on the back wall were blurred a tiny bit.

ABOUT ME: I am a rabid computer programmer who also likes to compose music, graphics, 3D models, and animation. I am founding a new company, a partnership with a friend in Chicago who is a graphic artist. We shall be called "rocketHEAD". We have a sci-fi/adventure computer game in the works, and will do Web-sites and multimedia.
