The Cortez
One of a series of proposed homes Turks and Caicos Islands in the Carribbean commmissioned by GENESIS Architecture & Engineering, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
Final rendered image was 3000 x 2000 TIF file. Rendering time was approximately 6 hrs on a Pentium
Architectural elements were primarily modelled in Autocad Release 12; exported as DXF files and converted to Imagine objects using Accutrans 3D by Micromouse Productions. Each layer was set as a separate object.
Palm trees and landscaping elements are primarily scanned images from photos and mapped to planes with filter maps and rendered in scene. (Levels of reflection typically 6-7.) Some foreground items are scanned images composited into final image.
Major textures used were Imagine's Color Noise for stucco finishes; Imagine's Mosaic and Essence FractalC for asphalt; Essence Cylinderhullplate for driveways, Essence Shingles for shingles.
The grass is a scanned bitmap repeat mapped to a mesh with ColorNoise added over for a more random appearance. Water is a flat plane with various Essence water textures applied. Boats and seadoos are scanned images applied to a plane and rendered into scene.
Lighting is generally one source light (shadow casting) - 600 intensity; and one infill light - 125 intensity.
The sky is a scanned image and set as a backdrop (3000x2000) in the Action Editor.
