 This document provides an overview of Fujitsu COBOL Data File Tool set 
 and their installation.  Other related README files are:

This software release guide is structured as follows:

1. Product overview

   Fujitsu COBOL Data File Tool Set is a group of tools that can handle 
   COBOL data files and assists in software development.

   This tool set consists of the following two tools.
       - Data Editor
       - Data Converter

   Data Editor enables the user to create, update and browse data files 
   (viewing them as they appear in your COBOL programs based on the data
   description).  Note: It is helpful to create test data and to confirm 
   using test data.

  Data Converter is a tool for converting data files from one format to 
  another.  You define the input and output file formats and Data Converter 
  performs the task of moving the data between various file formats. File 
  formats supported are: sequential, indexed, relative, text file, CSV 
  (comma separated values) and other binary files. Data Converter will 
  convert between different character code systems - ASCII and ECBDIC.

  These two tools are functionally integrated so that both tools can be used
  to perform edit and conversion tasks.
   - Data Editor has a function which can link to Data Converter.
   - Data Editor can pass the updated data to Data Converter to convert to 
     another file format. 
  This tool enables the reuse of the COBOL data from a spread sheet software
  or from data base system.

  These tools run on the following operating system.
   -  Windows95
   -  Windows NT 3.51
   -  Windows NT 4.0

   
2. Hardware requirement

  Computer                  : Machine with Windows 95 or Windows NT running.
  RAM                       : Minimum of 16 MB
  Hard Disk space           : Minimum of  5 MB
   

3. How to install this product

 (1)  Run the installation program (SETUP.EXE)  and proceed based on the 
      instructions displayed on the screen.

 (2)  A program group is generated and icons corresponding to each tool are 
      registered.


4. Using this software by another user on the same PC with PowerGEM Plus

  If another user who doesn't have the right of Administrators Group use 
 this software on the same PC on which this software and PowerGEM Plus has 
 been already installed, take the following action.

  This action is necessary if the Operating system is :
   -  Windows NT or 
   -  Windows95 and the option [Users can customize their preferences 
      and desktop setting.] in [User Profiles] tab is selected in Passwords 
      Properties on Control Panel.

  PowerGEM Plus has Set Startup Information Tool (SETENV32.EXE) in the 
 Install directory of PowerGEM Plus itself.

  Double click the file SETENV32.EXE in the directory and follow the 
 displayed direction. 
  Startup information is set in the registry regarding PowerGEM Plus and 
 you can use this software.


5. How to uninstall this product

   Start the Add/Remove programs in Control panel.
   Select the name of the product from the installed software list and 
   click Add/Remove button.
