Parasitic Jaeger

Stercorarius parasiticus

Ave marina de espalda parda, parecida al Págalo Pomarino pero mßs peque±a, mßs delgada y con las dos plumas centrales de la cola puntiagudas. Tama±o: 41-46 cm.; peso: 380-510 g. El "parßsito" del nombre hace referencia al hßbito de los pßgalos de robarle el alimento a otras aves marinas durante la migraci≤n y en el invierno. Anida en la tundra de AmΘrica del Norte y Eurasia e inverna en el mar de los Sargazos y los mares de AmΘrica del Sur. Especie migratoria rara en los mares de Puerto Rico, con avistamientos el 17 de mayo de 2001 en Culebra y el primero de octubre de 1999 en Barceloneta.
