Peque±o pato de cabeza casta±a, con una mancha verde en las alas y una lφnea verde iridiscente atravesßndole el ojo. La hembra, de plumaje pardo, tiene el pico peque±o y tambiΘn posee la mancha verde en las alas. Tama±o: 34-43 cm.; peso: 340-360 g. Audio 2 (M. Oberle). Anida en los humedales de gran parte de AmΘrica del Norte y Eurasia. Un visitante invernal poco com·n en los humedales de Puerto Rico, como los de la Reserva Natural de Humacao.
