The smallest bird ever documented in Puerto Rico, this species is white below and iridescent green above. Hovers with its tail cocked up. When flying by, it can be confused with a large beetle, moth, or other flying insect. Length: 6 cm.; weight: 2.2-3.6 g. Endemic to Jamaica and Hispaniola. Accidental in Puerto Rico, e. g., Carite State Forest, 23 and 25 March 2002.
