Similar to the common AudubonÆs Shearwater, but smaller, with a proportionately shorter tail, shorter wings, smaller bill and more white on the face (In the photo of museum specimens above, 2 Audubon's Shearwaters are above and 2 Little Shearwaters below). Length: 25-30 cm.; weight: 170-275 g. Breeds on the Azores, Cape Verde and Canary Islands, and islands in the south Atlantic Ocean. Normally ranges over the eastern Atlantic Ocean, but accidental off North America and Puerto Rico (30 January 1977).
