DESCRIPTION
NDcode is a macro to eNcode or Decode strings of text. Use NDcode to selectively encrypt sensitive pieces of information of up to 250 characters in length. Therefore, select the desired text. If the selected string is too long the macro will warn you and stop. After selection hit NDcode's hot-key. You will be prompted for a password that is used in the subsequent encryption computation. The result is an unreadable string of characters that replaces the original text. NDcode encrypted strings are bordered between ">>>" and "<<<" delimeters. For decryption, position the cursor exactly behind the NDcode delimiter at the end of the encoded string and hit the hot-key. After entering the correct password the string is decrypted and shown in a dialog. From here you can decrypt it and replace the encryption in your document or leave the string encrypted. Also, you can edit the decrypted string in the edit box and replace the edited encryption in the document.
The password is case sensitive, it may be from 1 to 16 characters long, and contain all characters that can be entered from the keybord. The password is not stored anywhere on the machine, which adds to NDcode's security. I don't claim the encrypted information to be unbreakable, but I'm convinced that the encryption is a lot safer than the password protection offered by some other programs.
INSTALLATION
Transfer NDCODE.OPO to the \MACROS folder on the C: or D: drive and install NDCODE.OPO as a macro under a letter key in Macro5 (e.g. "N").
NOTES
NDcode needs ExAb, the Macro5 macro programme of Pascal Nicolas or a compatible macro starter. Macro5 is freeware and can be downloaded from Pascal's homepage at http://www.geocities.com/SiliconValley/Pines/1215/.
When you also have my text manipulation macro ExAb installed, NDcode decryption can be started using ExAb's hot-key.
NDCode is also available for the Psion S3a/c
DISCLAIMER
NDcode is freeware. I will not be responsible for any problem its use may cause. Be free to use and copy the macro, but pass only this unmodified version, including the text file, on to others. If you modify or improve NDcode, please let me know.
FINALLY
I am entirely dependent on feed-back from users. Therefore, if you like this macro, miss anything, or have useful suggestions, please give me feed-back so I can continue to improve NDcode.
Thanks to Pascal Nicolas for his excellent Macro5 programme.
