Tanagers are small birds found throughout Brazil. They live in forests, orchards and city parks. The male has brightly colored blue and yellow feathers, and the female has light-green feathers. They have a beautiful song and can imitate many other birds of the forest. Their scientific name, Euphonia, indicates that they sing very well, since in Greek “eu” means good, or pleasant, and phonia means sound. Approximate size: 5 inches. Favorite food: Fruit. Other names: Bonito, tem-tem-de-estrela.
