Once the game has loaded, you will see a panel offering either a 1-player game, a 2-player game, or the option to return to the main Desktop Pack menu. Clicking on any of these with the left mouse button will start that selection. Alternatively, press '1' on the keyboard to begin a 1-player game, '2' for a 2-player game, or 'ESC' to return to the main menu. a) Break-Kat ----------------- GAMEPLAY: Use the KitKat bar at the bottom of the screen to deflect the ball against the wall of bricks above you. Clear the wall by hitting every brick to get to the next level! The KitKat 'bat' can be moved left and right, and to help you, several bonus icons are situated within the wall - when the ball hits one, a special 'K' will drop down towards the bottom of the screen. When collected, it will give you a special power, depending on its colour: RED: Enlarges the 'bat' into a KitKat Chunky bar, giving you even more KitKat to deflect the ball with! GREEN: Makes the 'bat' all sticky, allowing you to catch the ball, and fire it off again when you're ready - wait too long, though, and the ball will launch without your permission! YELLOW: Splits the ball into three, giving you either more chances to clear the wall! b) Crisp Attack -------------------- GAMEPLAY: The aliens want your Toffee Crisp, and they'll stop at nothing to get it! To stop them, move your Toffee Crisp left and right across the bottom of the screen, avoiding the alien's firepower falling towards you using the mouse or keyboard arrow keys. Fire blasts of rice back at them to destroy them as the aliens move back and forth across the screen, using three giant slices of Toffee Crisp as shields against the enemy. The smaller the alien force gets, however, the faster it will move to avoid your shots, so be on your guard - and watch out for the mothership that will occasionally slide across the top of the screen...hit it for a bonus score! Clear the alien force from the screen to get to the next level, where more of the aliens await... c) Polo Munchman --------------------- GAMEPLAY: Move your Polo around the maze, munching on the rows of Supermints to clear the screen. However, four of the meanest nasties are lurking around every corner to chomp on your Polo! Turn the tables on them by eating one of the Polo Fruits located in each corner of the screen, and turn into a super Spearmint Polo! Whilst the nasties chatter in fear, chomp on them for a bonus score! If things are getting a little hairy, and it looks like there's no way out, use the handy teleporters at each side of the maze to hop straight over to the other side. For a super bonus, the letters P, O, L and O will appear in one of the four Supermint boxes in each corner of the maze. Pick them up in the right order to spell POLO, and even more points will be yours! d) Kit-Bat --------------- GAMEPLAY: Tennis, KitKat-style! Move your finger of KitKat up and down the court, and try to get the ball past your opponents 'bat' to score! The first player to score 15 points wins a leg, and the first to win two legs will win a set. The first player to win two sets wins the game! Bonus icons will pop up from under the court to give you special powers: KitKat Chunky Bar: Enlarges the 'bat' into a KitKat Chunky bar, giving you even more KitKat to deflect the ball with! Four-finger KitKat: Makes the 'bat' all sticky, allowing you to catch the ball, and fire it off again when you're ready - wait too long, though, and the ball will launch without your permission! Unwrapped KitKat: Speeds the ball up, making more difficult for your opponent to return it! e) Yorkie Football ----------------------- GAMEPLAY: Move your footballer around the pitch, kicking footballs at the spinning bars of Yorkie to smash them to pieces. Rotate your player around using the mouse, and press the left mouse button to run. Kick footballs at the Yorkie chunks by pressing the right mouse button, but be careful not to let any touch you! All the Yorkies must be smashed to nothing to reach the next level, but look out for the referees, who will throw yellow and red cards at you to stop you! Bonus giant footballs will appear occasionally - kick a ball at one to get the crowd behind you and score extra points! f) Tube Troubles --------------------- GAMEPLAY: Surf the top of a giant tube of Smarties, and stop the rogue Smarties from escaping! Spin around the top by moving the mouse left and right, and throw Smartie lids at the approaching monsters with the left mouse button. Watch out, because not only do some Smarties jump from lane to lane, others will split into two when shot! If a Smartie reaches the top of the tube, though, it will begin to jump around the edge to get you! TIP: When this happens, stand your ground and keep firing! Once all the Smarties in a tube have been dealt with, you'll slide down to another tube, where the Smarties come faster and move even faster to avoid your shots! ******************************************************************************************* vii) TROUBLESHOOTING -------------------- Q) The games seems to run slowly. A) This can be due to a number of aspects. The main causes are available RAM, and the number of other programs running when the Desktop Pack is started. If you have a number of programs running, leave the Desktop Pack, and close other programs that may require large amounts of system power. Q) The game/menu takes ages to start. A) As above, this can be due to the number of other applications running. Quit the Desktop Pack, and close any other running programs. Q) The KitKat Have a Break Desktop Pack does not run properly in 256 colour mode. A) Click the right mouse button on the Windows Desktop, and select Properties. From here, select Settings, and set the Colours level to either 16-bit High Colour, or 32-bit True Colour. Click on Apply and OK. ******************************************************************************************* viii) TECHNICAL SUPPORT ----------------------- If you are experiencing any problems with the game software itself, send an e-mail to the Technical Support desk at Microtime Interactive at Kitkat@microtime.co.uk. ******************************************************************************************* ******************************************************************************************* (End) RS 03/07
