World's Columbian Exposition (Chicago World's Fair)

The World's Columbian Exposition was the last and the largest of the nineteenth-century's world's fairs. The fair was supposed to be a celebration of Columbus's voyage of discovery, but in fact it was a celebration of American culture and society. The Web site is an in-depth examination of the fair and its implications for modern society. Included are a tour, reactions to the fair, the legacy of the fair, and notes and a bibliography. This is a fascinating resource for the advanced history student.
