Persistence of Spirit

This site is an interpretive study of the people and events that contributed to the black experience in Arkansas. The two sections of the site most valuable to high school students are Historical Narrative and Photo Scrapbook. Historical Narrative is divided into five chapters designed to convey the African-American experience in Arkansas. It covers events from the first years of the nineteenth century through the 1980s. Photo Scrapbook is an assortment of historical images displayed in chronological order. The site also includes a short list of black history links and a bibliography of print resources.
