National Archives and Records Administration

The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is the agency responsible for managing the federal government's records. It is the first and foremost source for accessing government documents, and many are available at NARA's Web site. You can visit the on-line exhibit hall and view famous documents such as the Magna Carta, Nixon's letter of resignation, and a letter from Jackie Robinson. An on-line art exhibit features works by Whistler, poster art from World War II, and a series of paintings sponsored by the government's Works Project Administration (WPA) to keep artists employed during the Great Depression. NARA is also an exceptional resource for students doing research or hunting for pictures on U.S. history.
