The Maritime History Virtual Archives

This fairly primitive looking site is simple in design and dry in flavor, but it makes up for these shortcomings in its uniqueness. Written in both Swedish and English, the site offers a large collection of primary documents pertaining to maritime history. There are also several dictionaries of traditional seamanship terminology dating back centuries, ship's journals, captain's diaries, and manuals detailing traditional sailing and navigation skills. Even more impressive than the data is this site's links, which are both historical and contemporary, addressing modern navigation and boating, naval history, and recreational boating. For those doing in-depth nautical research this site is an essential bookmark.
