Letters from an Iowa Soldier in the Civil War

This fascinating Web site presents a series of letters written by Newton Scott of Iowa from 1862 to 1865. Scott's letters were written to, and saved by, his sweetheart Hannah Cone. The letters are full of the details of Scott's experiences as a company clerk in the Union Army during the Civil War. Scott and Cone were married when the war ended and raised nine children. In addition to the letters, the site includes photographs, links to maps, additional Scott family records, and links to further Civil War resources.
