The Gallery of the Open Frontier

This digital image library includes photographs, paintings, and drawings that pertain to the history of the American West. The resources have been drawn primarily from the collections of the National Archives. The site is searchable or can be accessed via a list of subject headings. A helpful troubleshooting page is provided. The images are quick to load and can be enlarged to more than fill the screen. This already excellent Web page is still a demo site and all resources are under construction. It promises to get even better.
