The Great Chicago Fire and the Web of Memory

This on-line exhibit was created to mark the 125th anniversary of the great Chicago fire. The site is divided into two parts: The Great Chicago Fire and The Web of Memory. The five chapters of the former focus on the fire and the city's recovery. The latter features eyewitness accounts, contemporary journalism, fiction, and poetry recalling the fire. In both sections, each chapter contains images, text, and an essay that links the two. This very engaging and informative site is well-designed and easy to navigate.
