The Charters of Freedom

This is an on-line version of a permanent exhibit at the National Archives. The documents displayed are the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. Images of the original documents are included, along with a transcription of each. A copy of the Magna Carta, on indefinite loan to the archives, can also be viewed here. The site is enriched by the addition of explanatory text, drawings, and a biographical index to the signers of the Declaration of Independence. This is a valuable resource for high school history students.
