The Faces of Science: African Americans in the Sciences

While this site has a science focus, it was originally designed for Black History Month in 1995 and provides social studies students with information on the contributions African Americans have made to the sciences. Profiles are given in the following scientific fields: biochemistry, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, entomology, genetics, inventions, mathematics, computer science, meteorology, medicine, veterinary medicine, oceanography, protozoology, and zoology. Further links take visitors to articles on the involvement of African Americans in the sciences, in particular at Louisiana State University.
