Near Earth Asteroid Rendezvous (NEAR)

Follow the mission of the first spacecraft to orbit an asteroid at this site. The craft is scheduled to rendezvous with 433 Eros on 6 February 1999. In June 1997 the craft did a fly-by of 253 Mathilde. You can see the mission unfold from conception to the finish. Check out the mission news with weekly updates and a timeline. Four of the scientific teams have made some of the data they have collected available on the site. You can also join one of the listservs devoted to this topic. The site uses movies, images, and text to cover this mission almost like being at mission control.
