Exploring the Planets Cyber-Center

This site is a part of the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institute. The page is set up as an exercise in observation of the solar system. Section I presents twenty-three high definition uncaptioned photos. The student's job is to make detailed observations and try to determine from where in the solar system they originate. Section II gives the name and details about each photo so students can compare their notes to those of experienced observers. The third section allows for review and provides links to other astronomy sites such as JPL and the Hubbell telescope. A teaching tips section provides lesson plans for instructors but also even more detailed information for students.
