This site maintained by literature students at the University of Florida is based on the belief that to understand a play, or any piece of literature, you must also understand the other aspects of society during the period. Very much a work in progress, the site contains links to the following categories pertaining to the topic: people in the British theater during the period, a chronology of the period, a map of London, a bibliography, and relevant images and comments from contemporaries on London life of the day. There are also additional links to Hogarth's engravings, a History of Costumes, Women in the Theater after the Restoration, The Age of Style 1660-1800, and Regency Fashions.
