Documenting the American South

Part of a multifaceted project at the University of North Carolina, this site contains resources on the southern experience in nineteenth-century America. The student can find narratives on slavery, diaries and memoirs, exhibits, autobiographies, and indexes. There are also links to other resources on southern Americana and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Libraries Home Page. New and planned additions include a digitized library of Southern Literature: Beginnings to 1920 and First-Person Narratives of the American South, 1860-1920.
