Demonstration Disk Instructions Installation: Unzip this file to a diskette or directory on your local disk. From the Windows Program Manager Menu, select the 'File' menu option, then 'Run'. Enter the drive and directory you unzipped to followed by Setup. Follow the on screen instructions. The Install program will build a Winfo group in Program Manager. Navigational Hints Each Icon on the Main View screen has a corresponding menu option. If you are uncomfortable using the icons at first, use the menu options. If you want to start using the Icons, you can learn what each Icon does by placing your mouse over the Icon, pressing the left mouse button, and holding it down. When you do this, the Status Bar (last line of the Main View window) will display a description of what this Icon does. If you move the cursor off the icon and then release the button, the Icon function will not execute. Quick Tour Entering Winfo - Double click on the Winfo Icon to start Winfo. You will see the title screen appear, then the Main View showing all the records in a Sample phone book data base. The Menu bar is on top, followed by the Icon bar, then the Alphabet buttons and the Field Headings for all the Cards. The last line of the Main View windows is the Status line. It shows the current status, descriptions. and useful information about the current database such as number of Cards, Default Form, Current View, and whether the data base has been modified. Display Information Double clicking on any item or pressing F2 in the Main View List will display the highlighted Card on the default form. If you select Forms from the Menu or Icon bar, you will see a list of all the forms available for the Phone database. Select each one and see which one you prefer. You may change forms at any time without affecting your data. It does not matter which form you use to enter your data, you can view it on any form. Add a Card Pressing F3 from the Main View screen or on a form will bring up a blank form. Enter your name and address. Once done, pressing F2 will save the Card and return you to the Main View screen. The new card will be displayed in the Main View. Adding records is that easy. Change your View Select View or Quick View. This function is used to define and select which cards will be displayed in the main view. Select the fields in the order you want them to display, then select the default form. Finally enter the Selection criteria. Press HELP to learn more about selection criteria. Remember that you can have as many views as you want. Experiment with Views. This will not change your data, it's just being sorted and redisplayed. Print a Card Select File.Print.Print Forms and look through the list of pre-defined reports, Labels, and Cards. If your particular size of Label is not shown, select Custom Labels and use the custom Label screen to describe your labels. Winfo will print any size label in any layout you wish. The same is true for Envelopes. Just press the Envelope button, set up the envelope parameters, and you're set. Auto Dialer Pressing F7 from any screen will display the Auto Dial screen. As you can see, you can auto dial any of the 6 phone numbers associated with each card. There is also a sophisticated Post Dialer screen that will allow you to navigate yourself through the most complicated of phone or message systems and even includes 3 credit card numbers. All this can be done without even picking up your phone. Other Data Bases Select File.New. This screen shows the 12 databases that Winfo supports. Be sure to look at all the forms in each data base. You may create multiple data bases of each type. Mail Merge & Import/Export Winfo also supports mail merge with the most popular Windows word processors and import and export from standard ASCII comma delimited files.
