Shun is, with Seiya, the youngest of all and seems to be the weakest, but it's not true. When he was young, Shun cried easily, and the other childs entered with him and its older brother Ikki always defended him. Shun should go the Deathqueen Island , but he didn't have any possibility to survive there, and Ikki decided to take his place and Shun goes to Andromeda Island. There, to achieve their armor, he had to face the test of the sacrifice: it was tied with the chains of the Andromeda's armor to some rocks that would be submerged when the tide up. It was able to survive using his cosmo, leaving the sea in two. Shun hates to attack and only fight to defend himself but, like he demonstrated to his master before leaving Andromeda Island, he keeps in his interior an immense power.
His first (and only) combat during the Galactic Wars was against Jabu, Unicorn Saint, which is impotent againts the fabulous Andromeda's armor chains. During the combat, the chain moves for itself and he writes the Greek word " Axia " (something important or valuable), pointing to the Gold Cloth. Soon after, the Phoenix Saint appears to steal it and Shun discovers staggered that he's his big brother Ikki.
In the later challenge, he should face their evil double Black Andromeda whose chain becomes snakes. Finally, during the confrontation, Ikki understands jos error and sacrifices himself to save them from Heracles.
Shun goes with Athena to the mountains to protect the gold cloth. But the Sanctuary soldiers find them and Shun should face the Flame Saint. But when he's about to be defeated, the Phoenix reborns miraculously to rescue his brother.
In the Sanctuary, Shun should face Geminis Saint's trap. Shun is not able to save Hyoga, who falls to another dimension, but thanks to his chains he's is able to be held to the columns of the temple and finally, he lauchs a transdimensional attack that reaches the pope in his throne. When the Nebular chain returns, Shun does a tangled rosary with her and he discovers that Geminis armor was empty.
In Libra's temple, they find Hyoga caught in their prison of ice. After Shiryu liberates him with the sword, Shun decides to stay and to try to return him the heat, while Shiryu and Seiya leave toward the Scorpio temple. Shun uses the power of its cosmo to save its friend, putting its own life in danger and losing consioncius.
After, he confronts Aphrodite, Pisces Gold Saint, who slayed his master, Silver Saint Albiore of Cefus. It's during this combat that Shun shows its true power, the nebula storm, and defeats the golden saint.
Shun wears its new armor, revived thanks to Virgo Gold Saint Shaka's blod, during the confrontation to Asgard God Warriors. There he should face Mime of Beneatsch, Eta God Warrior. But unfortunately neither their chain nebular or his nebula storm can defeat the divine warrior and his evil harp. For luck, in that moment Ikki appears. He saves his brother and finally defeats Mime. Later he must face Cid of Mizar, Zeta God Warrior, and defeats him with his nebular storm attack. However it is bounded and at the mercy of Bud of Archor, twin of the previous one. Sheena, Ofiucus Silver Saint, helps him, but her powers are enough against the god warrior's power. Miraculously, Ikki reappears to save them.
In Poseidon's kingdom, Shun should face Io of Scylla, General of the Pacific South, which uses six different ttacks. Although Io's attacks are effective, the second time Shun is able to create with its chain an effective defense against each one of them.
