Kodomo no Omocha (translated as "Children's Toys") is a shojou anime series currently on the air in Japan, and often referred to as Kodocha for short. After 55+ episodes at the time of this writing, the show has had a strong showing in the ratings and gained in popularity, though having a somewhat balanced audience for a shojou series.

Kurata Sana is the main character in the series. She's a child actress with a starring role in Zenjiro's Kodomo no Omocha . Although being a child star, she attends a typical junior school. Hayama Akito is her nemesis from the beginning of the series, though that sort of changes as both of them go through struggles at home and with each other.

On the whole, Kodocha is about growing up in a complex world. Yes, it's a comedy, but in many respects it's very serious in the way it portrays children dealing with family troubles. Each character deals with some sort of domestic problem which they overcome through friendship, determination, and occasionally some off-the-wall schemes which put you in stitches.

To describe the cast as abnormal is maybe a bit extreme, but I don't know any other series in which a woman can wear a double-barrelled cannon on her head and fire it, For fans that enjoy the type of slapstick comedy found in Urusei Yatsura, and sincerity inherent in any shojou, this should be right up your alley.

He said: Kodocha is Marmalade Boy on acid.
