Maro, affectionately known in the Kurata household as Maro-chan is the Kurata family pet. This little squirrel doesn't have the ability to speak (unlike the Babbit) however still will always make at least one appearance in each episode. Maro-chan can always be found somewhere on 'mama's' head, usually somewhere on one of 'mama's' eccentric hats. Maro-chan has been seen scaling the Toyko tower, riding on a roller coaster, living in an igloo and flying a space shuttle all thanks to 'mama's' hats. However you will usually see Maro living in it's own little dog (squirrel) house.
