Sunday

In The Zone

NHL
Jim Carey, Washington Capitals: He was in the Zone on Saturday, and he did it again Sunday, this time stopping 27 shots to record his second straight shutout and the sixth of the season as the Capitals dumped the Philadelphia Flyers 3-0.
NBA
Isaiah Rider, Minnesota Timberwolves: The T'Wolves have shown signs of life since the trade of Christian Laettner, the latest being a 89-87 victory of the Miami Heat. Rider was the sparkplug, coming off the bench to score 30 points and grab a career-high 15 rebounds.

Men's college basketball
Shareef Abdur-Rahim, California: The Golden Bears' fabulous freshman was on fire Sunday as Cal knocked off rival Stanford 85-69. Abdur-Rahim had 31 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the field and 13-of-14 from the line as the upset of No. 25 Stanford continued Cal's push for a spot in the Big Dance.

Golf
Greg Norman: The Shark simply owns the Blue Monster, winning the Doral Open for the third time with an effort he says was full of mistakes. In his first tournament on the regular PGA Tour this season, Norman dominated, finishing 19-under par. That was the second-best total ever at Doral, bettered only by Norman three years ago.

Nowhere near the Zone

NBA
Bobby Hurley, Sacramento Kings: The point guard has returned to the starting lineup as the Kings try to stop their spiral, but Hurley wasn't the answer Sunday as the Kings fell at home 108-99 to the Washington Bullets. Mitch Richmond had 35 points for the Kings, but he was doing it all on his own. Hurley had no points and no assists as the man running the offense.
