Hardware you will need
A good system for running the Microsoft® Windows® 95 operating system has a 486 or better microprocessor with 8 MB of RAM. However, always check the requirements of your applications. A system checker will check your computer for hardware compatibility.

Choosing CD-ROM or floppy disk version
If you have a CD-ROM drive, get the CD-ROM version of Windows 95. Installation will be faster, plus the CD-ROM comes with an excellent tutorial.

Make sure your PC is virus-free
We recommend you run an antivirus program before installing Windows 95.

Shut down all utilities before installing Windows 95
Shut down all utility progams that appear on your screen automatically, including all virus testers, screen savers, memory managers, shells, and so on.

Back up all your business or personal files
It's always a good idea to back up your data before installing a new operating system!
