Who We Are
A team dedicated to on line journalism
World Media On Line, a subsidiary of World Media Network, was created to explore the realms of on line journalism.
What We Do
During the first three quarters of 1995, we have been experimenting with various ways of exploiting the wide possibilities the Internet offers to journalism.
PHOTOJOURNALISM ON LINE : The Russian Chronicles
For two month and a half, starting , a team of two journalists will report directl from Russia. They will travel from Vladivostok, just a few hundred miles North of Japan, and follow the general route of the Trans-Siberian Railroad. The journey will end in the northwestern city of St.Petersburg. This project is coproduced with FocalPoint f/8.
NEW WAYS OF CRISIS REPORTING :
Sarajevo On LineLast April, we sent a team to Sarajevo, to establish a direct link between the inhabitants of the besieged city and the Internet community.
- Sarajevo On line goes on !
The experiment was successful and led us to open the service again. It includes a daily wire from ONASA, the Oslobodenje press agency in Sarajevo, the daily dispatches of the Unprofor, A weekly press review of the Bosnian free press, videos, computer artworks from Sarajevan artists.
Of course you can still have a direct dialog with the residents of Sarajevo.
FROM OFFLINE TO ONLINE : Planet Reporter
Planet Reporter is an investigative hypermedia service which provides the reader with an off line/on line link. It is composed of two elements : a CD-Rom collection, and a related on line service. The first issue of Planet Reporter is dedicated to a most precious natural element : water.
SPORTING EVENTS : Tour '95 Live
Our most sophisticated on line experience so far : we firmly believe in accurate and real time coverage of sporting events on line. We choose the world's most famous bicycle race, the Tour de France, to test our concept. The operation was a success, generating more than five million requests in 23 days.
This success led us to cover
La Vuelta '95, in Spain, from September 11th to September 24th.
What Does 1996 Hold ?
