School Based Programmes

(to be developed further)

During 1995 we explored a range of domestic activities centred around building capacity in South African schools for intercultural learning at local level. These programmes were suspended in 1996 as we built capacity. It is hoped that these will develop into local intercultural exchanges during 1997.

Student Interventions

Intercultural interventions which create an environment for students to gain insight into the culture of students of a different culture. These workshops run within the schools.

Conflict Resolution Intervention

We are ran a Conflict Resolution Intervention for local High Schools in Partnership with Letsema Conflict Transformation Resource. This was in response to requests from schools who are struggling to cope with the changes among their student bodies.

Student Exchange Programmes

Giving students the opportunity to live (and go to school) with students of other cultures and languages. Exchanges between two different local schools.

Teacher Forums

Mediation for self discovery. We as teachers can find our own creative approaches to the multicultural classroom if we understand the background and home life of our students.
