BIOGRAPHY

Maureen was born in the bush at Mt Allan cattle station in 1959. This cattle station is called Yuelamu and is aboriginal owned and run today.
Maureen attended school at the Yuendumu settlement in the 1960's and later returned to Mt Allan and worked as a school teacher's assistant for 3 years. Maureen Hudson NAMPINJINPA began painting in 1981. Maureen has 4 children and her eldest Jillian is now becoming an artist in her own right.
Maureen is an accomplished artist and a respected member of her community. Her first love is painting in which she refers to this as "culture art". Her paintings or dreamings originate from Warlukulongu - her fathers and grandfathers country involving emu / fire. The stories which have been passed down from her mother involve womenÆs ceremony.
Maureen has exhibited works both nationally and internationally.
