Quick User Guide:

Only 30 uses...
Once you have installed Auctioneer you can use the software approximately 30 times before it will become unusable. You will have to register the software to continue using it.

Entering the RegID code...
Once you have registered I will send you an email with a RegID code.  Press MENU-Options-Register and enter in the code.  This will allow you to continue using the program.  Once you have entered the code, I suggest you perform a Hotsync.

The main screen...
When you first enter the Auctioneer program you will see the main screen. This screen shows you a list of auction items, the current bid price and the time that the auction closes.  When you first start out it's empty, so let's go on to talk about adding items to the list.

Add an auction item...
From the main screen, press the "New" button.  This brings up the New Item screen.  Enter in eBay auction item numbers for items that you are interested in.  These item numbers can be found at the top of every eBay item description webpage.  They also show up when you use eBay's search engine.  Enter in the item number on this screen and press "OK".
Getting data from eBay using a modem directly connected to your organizer...
After you have entered in your eBay item numbers, you are now ready to get auction data from eBay.  First attach your modem to the organizer.  Make sure the Network settings in Preferences are correct for connecting to your ISP (The user manual for your organizer might be helpful here).  Once you've verified the network settings, then, from the main screen of Auctioneer, press the "Go WWW" button.  Auctioneer will now try and connect you to eBay.  When you're done you should see that the main list now has item descriptions, current bid prices, and the time that the auction closes.

Getting data from eBay using Hotsync via your desktop computer...
Not all us have modems for our organizers.  Fortunately though, you can still get auction updates using your desktop computer's Internet connection.  All you do is place your organizer in the Hotsync cradle and perform a Hotsync.  That's it!

Viewing the details...
If you select an auction item from the list on the main screen, you will see a screen with details for that item.

Advanced Topic: Desktop computer must go through firewall to access the Internet...
In order to make the desktop conduit for Auctioneer go through your company's firewall, you'll first need to find out some info from your system administrator, namely what is the address and port for HTTP through your firewall.

Next go to the Hotsync manager icon running on your computer's system tray.  View the Hotsync log.  You should see something like this for Auctioneer:

Auctioneer Note: File not found: C:\Palm\SetoE\SetoCorp\EAucproxy.txt
Use a text editor to create this EAucproxy.txt file and place it in the directory shown in the Hotsync log warning.  The contents of the file should be the server's address and port, for example:

    Brahma.CC.PurdueNC.Edu
    8080
If your firewall setup requires a username a password to be specified they can be specified in this file also like this:

    Brahma.CC.PurdueNC.Edu
    8080
    edmund
    edmundpassword
