THE VUOTSO REINDEER VILLAGE




THE VUOTSO REINDEER VILLAGE IS FINLAND'S SOUTHERNMOST SAMI VILLAGE

The village is located 220 km north from Rovaniemi and 88 km north of Sodankylä and 70 km south of Ivalo, 40 km south from Saariselkä. We can be found right by the E4 road.

PROGRAMS ARE BASED ON REINDEER AND REINDEER HUSBANDRY.

REINDEER FEEDING DAILY AT 10.30 A.M.
Reindeer feeding takes place daily (except weeks 20-24). The program includes an exhibition on Sami culture and reindeer husbandry.

MIDDAY REINDEER AND SLEDS
The trip will cover 12 km and take around 3 hours. The trip will be arranged for groups of 4-12 persons between weeks 46-16.

A VISIT TO A REINDEER FARM IN VUOTSO

A REINDEER VILLAGE TEPEE EVENING
The program includes a short reindeer drive, fried reindeer over a traditional slow-burning log fire, Lappish Baptism Ceremony, leading reindeer bell. The trip will be arranged for groups of 16-100 persons between weeks 46-16.

MIDNIGHT SUN WORSHIP TRIP
During the bright night we will travel to the top pf the Suojelusvaara hill to admire the magnificent view while enjoying an evening snack, coffee and cake around an open fire as well as experiencing the traditional Lappish Baptism Ceremony.

The trip will be held between weeks 24-27. Prices are valid until 31.10.1995.

Shell fuel pumps, handicrafts made by local Sami people, reindeer meat.
