TAVERN SAHTIKROUVI

At the Kivioja farm in the Hartola Kingdom in East HΣme is one of the Kalho Manor crofter cottages. It was built already in the nineteenth century and in 1933 the Kivioja farm was bought by VΣin÷ and Lyyli Punakallio. Today the farm is run by a member of the third generation, Matti Punakallio. While farming has changed over the years new means of livelihood have been developed in addition to the traditional ones. In 1983 the Kivioja farm started to produce home-brewed beer wort for selling purposes. In 1996, to revive the traditional tavern culture they opened the tavern Sahtikrouvi, which upkeeps the traditions of the home brewed beer, sahti.
