THEATER TRADITION Kabuki Noh Dolls

Bunraku is traditional, Japanese puppet theater that has its origin in the Edo period. Bunraku and Kabuki are closely related; only the actors in Kabuki are real people whereas in Bunraku they are puppets. The puppets are about one meter tall and are manipulated by up to three persons. Every person is responsible for a different part of the puppet. They are very experienced and make the puppets appear almost alive even though they are visible on the stage behind the puppet.
