Comments: "And lo, in the early nineteen-eighties, the Great Underground Empire was born. Spelunkers ventured into the land and darkness beneath the ground in search of gold, or magic, or their fate. This was the land of Zork."

Released in the early 1980's, InfoCom's Zork games dominated the top of the computer gaming charts for years. Part of the game's appeal came from the player's imagination - Zork was a text-based game originally without any graphics. When Activision aquired InfoCom's assets, the new Zork games incorporated state-of-the-art full-motion video, allowing players their first chance in a decade to compare what they imagined to the game designer's vision. The translation of Zork into a motion picture will be similar to this - can Hollywood translate the game's lovable quirkyness and epic qualities into a film adventure? Based upon Threshold's previous video game-into-movie outing (Mortal Kombat), they at least have a stronger advantage than the creators of say, Super Mario Brothers - The Movie.

Rumors: Unknown.

Scoop Feedback:
