The Vega Brothers

Genre: Action.

Studio: Miramax?.
Production Company: Unknown; most likely A Band Apart (Tarantino's company).

Project Phase: Movies Rumored.

Who Would Be In It: John Travolta; Michael Madsen.
Who's Making It: Unknown. Quentin Tarantino seems most likely to write, direct and/or produce the film.

Premise: Unknown, except that it features the two Vega brothers from Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs - and presumably a lotta gunfire.

Release Date: Unknown.

Comments: A movie rumored since Tarantino ackowledged that John Travolta's character from Pulp Fiction (Vincent Vega) and Michael Madsen's character from Reservoir Dogs (Vic Vega) were, in fact, brothers. Tarantino also said that he had thought of a project featuring the two brothers, sort of a 'prequel' to the two films (it would have to be). Tarantino's films and scripts often are self-refering to his other works.

It's certainly an idea that gets the excitement of fans of the two shows going, but will it ever get the go-ahead, especially when one considers Travolta's rising salary costs and lack of free time, and Taratino's desire to work on other 'non-violent' genres.

Rumors: Unknown.

Scoop Feedback:

April 16, 1996... We've heard that in the April '96 Playboy, there's an interview with Michael Madsen. In it, Madsen relates a conversation he had with Quentin Tarantino before the Pulp Fiction shoot. Originally, the Vincent Vega character was going to be Vic Vega, but eventually it wound up being re-written as the new character of Vincent. Tarantino reportedly told Madsen that if he couldn't make it in Pulp, the new Vega character would be Vic's brother when he wrote The Vega Brothers screenplay. [Scoop sent in anonymously.]

June 6, 1996... [Studio information supplied by 'Sylvester'.]

September 21, 1996... On the Rikki Ractham raido program, Tarantino said that he told the idea to Madsen and Travolta. They both liked the idea. Also, it would be an action film. [Scoop mailed in by 'Dr. Strangelove'.]
