Premise: When Blackbeard the pirate is finally captured justice comes in the form of 30 assorted gunshots and stab wounds -- and then to make matters worse he's beheaded. But when a voodoo princess sews the pirate's head back on life is once more breathed into Blackbeard -- now raised as one of the undead.
Two hundred years later Blackbeard and his crew of undead seamen feed on the tourists and locals around St. Thomas. Let's just say that when the adventurous types decide to explore the underwater caves they find a nasty surprise...

April 28, 1998... Filming will begin in around May 15th in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. In addition to Savini we've been told the cast includes Phillip Micheal Thomas (Miami Vice), and rockers Alice Cooper, Adam Ant and Apollonia. We're told that "rumors abound" that Micheal Biehn and Bruce Campbell have been approached for roles in the film. September 1, 1998... While attending DragonCon, CA correspondent 'Widgett' met up with Tom Savini and asked him what the latest word was concerning the project. Savini responded that the progress on the film is "slow but steady." There's always delays with any project, he said. [Fangs to 'Widgett'.]
November 9, 1998...Spanky wrote in to tell us that Dee Snider has signed on for a role in the film. Not terribly far-fetched, considering the two are buddies and all. [Thanks to Spanky]
December 27, 1998... Last month at the Philadelpha Science Fiction Convention one of our readers spoke to Tom Savini. Savini said that while the film hasn't begun shooting yet, Savini expected it to begin soon. Tom's girlfriend (who were told was dressed in amazing vampire garb) is going to handle the film's makeup.
