Titanic Too: It Missed the Iceberg

Genre: Comedy.

Studio: Unknown.
Production Company: The Mirror Group/Motion Picture Corporation of America.

Project Phase: Script Stage.

Who's In It: Priscilla Presley; David Hasselhoff.
Who's Making It: Pat Proft (Screenwriter, possibly Director).

Premise: The luxury ocean liner Titanic almost hits an iceberg.

Release Date: Q1 1999.

Comments: That makes two spoofs of James Cameron's Titanic now in development (the other being Gigantic). The project is expected to cost $25 million, and the intention is to do to Titanic what Hot Shots! did to Top Gun. In fact, the project's screenwriter (and possible director), Pat Proft, worked on Hot Shots! as well as The Naked Gun parodies.

Rumors: Unknown.

Scoop Feedback:

May 18, 1998... With Presley and Hasselhoff all-but-confirmed to star in the picture, filming is scheduled to commence this fall for a early 1999 release. One of the producing companies, The Mirror Group, is the same company that produced The People's Princess, a two-hour docu-drama detailing the last year of Princess Diana's life. Titanic Too would be The Mirror Group's first theatrical production.

That worries the scooper who first sent word to us about this project. "Having seen 'The People's Princess', this probably won't be too good," 'Herman' wrote to CA. " 'PP' was one of the worst things committed to celluloid (well video actually - I think) I have ever seen." [Project announcement and scoop sent in by 'Herman'.]
