December 3, 1997... Production is to take place in Florence and San Gimignano in Tuscany, Italy, and reportedly began filming in September '97. The budget is said to be $12 million. [Scoop provided by 'Widgett'.]

June 1, 1998... After a small setback production is to begin today with Angela Lansbury and Vanessa Redgrave's roles now played by Maggie Smith and Judi Dench. Baird Wallace will have the role of the boy, while Plowright, Smith and Dench will be the three British women. Cher will be playing the millionairess. Calista Flockhart and Rosemary Harris have been mentioned in conjunction with the film, though with no confirmation on their involvement. It was also reported that Jack Nicholson might serve on the production in some capacity, but this has not been confirmed either.
