December 4, 1997... This live-action adaptation is reportedly on the fast track at Universal. No casting so far, but Jankel may direct as well as produce. Also, the producers are to convince Universal that the comic book's actual title would be better than the current working one. [Scoop provided by 'Widgett'.]
August 17, 1998... Word from the San Diego comic convention is that this is still somewhere out there on the "fast track" to being made. More information about how it got there, though. Apparently, both Universal and Disney were bidding for the rights, but Universal snagged for, among other reasons, the fact that classic Universal movie monsters had the potential for showing up in the film (?!). Apparently, it's being viewed as one of those pesky summer "event" movies, on the scale of Men in Black. [Originally appeared in Ain't it Cool News; Comics2Film; reported by 'Widgett'.]
