October 20, 1998... Apparently, a year ago on Larry King Live, Thomas was a guest and said in response to the question of a Strange Brew sequel that the script was already in the works. So that was a year ago...and has the script been written yet? [Thanks to Marcus for the headsup.]

November 9, 1998...Great Scott! This sucker may be alive! A scooper writes in to tell us what his friend has uncovered. The film is reportedly supposed to be shooting in the spring. The script is done, and it took a while because Dave Thomas is in Los Angeles whereas Rick Moranis is in New York. Paul Flaherty (sibling of Joe) helped with the screenwriting process. Basically the premise is that the Brothers McKenzie try to start their own major brand of homemade beer and, as Thomas puts it, "...f--- everything up." Dan Aykroyd is reportedly interested in playing a "fast-talking insurance salesman." Thomas said that getting financial backing should go smoothly since the original, though released in 1982, still does beauty at the video rental store. As an aside, the Brothers get not cent one from rentals. Thomas reveals, "We got zero from the videos, because MGM sold their library to Turner and Turner was bought by Warner. You could spend a million dollars auditing where the money went and never get a dime." [Thanks to 'jcapaul' for the info]
