Sgt. Rock

Genre: Action/Comic Book Adaptation.

Studio: Warner Brothers.
Production Company: Warner Brothers/Silver Pictures.

Project Phase: Development Hell.

Who's In It: Bruce Willis (Sgt. Rock, unconfirmed); Sylvester Stallone; Arnold Schwarzennegger.
Who's Making It: Ridley Scott (Director); Joel Silver (Producer).

Premise: The adventures and exploits of a legendary front-line soldier named Rock and his Easy Company troop are being adapted to the silver screen. Details on plotline remain unknown at the present time.

Release Date: Unknown.

Comments: This project had been announced directly after Schwarzenegger's success with Silver's 1987 smash-hit Predator, but fell into development hell once Arnold's success skyrocketed. The project has remained in limbo, awaiting the assembling of the final cryptic piece to its puzzle: when Schwarzenegger will find the right opening at his career to make the film. With the project stalled and no early start date on the horizon, the producer has begun shopping the project around in the possibility that another action star may commit to put on Rock's uniform.

And maybe it has. Feedback received by CA places Bruce Willis in Rock's army boots - and his fellow Planet Hollywood partners may co-star (see Scoop Feedback).

Rumors: Unknown.

Scoop Feedback

May 16, 1996... With Schwarzenegger non-comittal to the project, some of the other stars being considered include Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis. [Scoop reported by Easy Company associate 'Sylvester'.]

February 25, 1997... Ridley Scott may be assuming director duties and Bruce Willis may be the new Sergeant. The two may now be involved with the production, while a juicy rumor mentions Willis' fellow Planet Hollywood partners Arnold Schwarzennegger and Sylvester Stallone expressing a desire to make cameo appearances in the film. The rumor goes that the three action stars wanted to work together on a film instead of always meeting for strictly business; and cameo appearances would make sure the budget doesn't escalate to stratospheric proportions.
