Scoop Feedback:

June 2, 1996... A couple of years back this scoop reporter was listening to Howard Stern's radio program. Stern told his audience that he had been offered a role in the Love Boat movie as the skipper of the 'Hate Boat'. He declined. [Scoop submitted by 'cromwell'.]

June 27, 1996... We've been told Charro may make a guest appearance on the ship this time around. [Scoop reported anonymously.]

July 8, 1997... Someone saw a report in their local paper than said Leslie Nielsen is the frontrunner to play Captain Stubing. [Scoop sent in by 'pmgeahan'.]

February 23, 1998... Even as Aaron Spelling preps a new TV series (if you haven't heard, it's called Love Boat: The Next Wave...with Robert Urich as the new captain, no less), progress continues on with the movie version:

Our scooper reports one Ernie Avarello, a screenwriter who wrote 'Dialectic Materialism' (in pre-production at Tri-Star), just did a re-write on the Love Boat script. According to our scooper, Avarello's re-write "...had lots of important people in stitches and has attracted a lot of attention. Richard Donner wants a piece of it, and those rumored for the Stubing role are Kevin Spacey, Bruce Willis, and maybe even Patrick Stewart."

As for those who have signed up...we're told Ice-T will be playing Isaac your bartender. Fred Savage is willing to play Gopher for scale, while Fred Grandy will also be on hand for a cameo. [Your cruise director for this one was 'diamondr'.]

June 7, 1998... Even though the film's switched studios, been trapped in development hell for years and a new television series is on the air, progress on the movie continues. We're now told that a new selection of Hollywood stars are close to purchasing their tickets on the vessel, including John Goodman, John Cleese, Ernest Borgnine, Gene Hackman and Leslie Nielsen.
