Stan Winston Studios will provide the picture's gorilla effects. At one time Sean Connery and Mel Gibson were linked to play the anthropologist. ['tseacer' and Joe Hanna.]

October 11, 1998... A postive, but not so detailed as we would have preferred, test screening review has been received. "The theater was crowded. Every seat was taken. I was lucky to sit in the middle of the theater with my friend.

"During the movie, all the characters became more memorable. I liked all the characters. They were certainly well developed. Especially Powell's character and Calder's character. The cast was really good and the acting was super. Cuba Gooding, Jr. made his best performance, I say. He acted with all the power he got. Anthony Hopkins did a reallt good job, too. Maura Tierney as Powell's daughter was nice to watch. Donald Sutherland kinda sucked, but he's doing okay. John Ashton played a sort of good guy/bad guy. The two prisoners ( Paul and Nicko ) were very nicely played as well. I really liked this movie and I can't wait 'til it's being released in theaters. But I guess I'll have to wait there a little. I think it's coming out in Spring 1999. I'm just guessing. I give this movie: Two very enthusiastic thumbs up ! Jon Turtletaub did a great job as the director. I give it **** out of ***** stars. I recommend this movie to everyone who wants to see a great movie with a perfect cast. It was sweet.

"The movie lasted about 2 hours. I hope that the studio won't cut anything when they release it. One last thing I want to mention. The script was really good. I didn't read it but I can tell from the story and the acting that it must be good." [Review provided by 'The Stephen Dude' which first appeared at Dark Horizons.] November 22, 1998... The trailer for Instict is in theaters, and back with their thoughts on the trailer is this scooper: "I just got back from the theatre and saw the preview for Instinct, and the trailer is excellent. There are scenes with Hopkins in long hair, kicking the hell out of prison inmates, people in the jungle, and Cuba Gooding Jr. With negatives shown as shots, it looked really intense but I got the feeling that they were trying to hype it less as a drama, and more as an action story. In the preview, we get a glimpse of Cuba as a gorilla-influenced character, as well, as though Hopkins' actions have convinced Cuba of what is real. It had me interested." Would anyone care to supply us with an advance review? [Daniel Ramirez.]
