September 7, 1998... The film began production under Sommersby director Jon Amiel back in July, filming in London. Ving Rhames joined the film in late July, playing the role of ConneryÆs Cajun cohort. [Scoop provided by 'Deadpool'.]

September 8, 1998... Here's a damn interesting behind-the-scenes story for all you raving film maniacs...

"Angela Bassett has stated in a number of interviews that she read with Sean Connery for the female lead in this film, and that the chemistry was great and she thought she had it and that everyone would be able to put the race factor aside... but then they went with someone else, to her chagrin. Basset notes that she still has a lot of admiration for Connery, but wishes it had just been different... sigh...

"Incidentally, Connery handpicked Zeta-Jones, his leading lady, undoubtedly after seeing that swordfight scene in Zorro... mmm..."

[Will the brave 'Final Shemp' get hand picked as well? We hope so!]

November 8, 1998... We received a review of the Ron Bass script today. Our scooper did mention that there are several SPOILERS in their below review, but it doesn't reveal any major revelations.

"Entrapment, penned by uber-writer Ron Bass, is a story about two super-thieves, one a young woman and one an older man, who pull off several highly improbable heists together. One of them is clearly entrapping the other, but the plot twists around enough to keep us guessing which of them it is. Nonetheless, this will obviously be a film aimed more at the pulse than the mind. The action sequences are the driving force here, and they are very impressive. Packed into the relatively terse 120 pages are a theft from the very top of the Chicago Hancock tower, a breach into an ocean liner in the middle of the ocean, and a major heist from a moving train. Since the script is dated December 1996, I imagine it has changed quite a bit...but if the key action scenes are kept essentially intact, Entrapment should definitely not disappoint.

"The characterizations are on the bland side, but the dialogue is kept pretty sharp, and in any case I'm confident that Connery should slip into his role like it was a silk bathrobe.

"There is, however, a logistical problem that arises from the fact that the script was written nearly two years ago. A major (and I mean MAJOR) plot point concerns the Hong Kong turnover. I can't imagine that the producers/director would want to have the film, which comes out early next year, take place in 1997 (which they would have to specifically denote). Unless they *are* in fact willing to date the movie back two years, the third act of the script will have to be (most likely, already has been) modified quite a bit.

"In any case, Entrapment should turn out to be one hell of a flick, and with any luck, Connery's best film this decade."

[We found this note from 'Necros' inside our safe, which disturbs the hell outta us.]

December 7, 1998... The Official Fox Movies Web site (www.foxmovies.com) now features a blurb about this film. While it's not huge news, it does provide a synopsis and Connery's name straight from the horse's mouth:
