Comments: This orignally was a direct-to-video production, but fan interest has convinced Dimension to release it theatrically (Dimension gang -- you rule.)

Also of interest to FDTD fans is the forthcoming 90 minute documentary Full Tilt Boogie. Directed by Sarah Kelly, it chronicles the making of the original flick. (As a commentary on the whole video prequel/sequels and this documentary...it says a lot about how much Tarantino and Rodriguez dig not only the movies but their fans. Aw, guys.... *sniff*...I feel a group hug comin' on!)

August 4, 1997... The budget for the sequel is said to be $10 million, the same as the prequel. Production reportedly will start when the prequel, Hangman's Daughter, wraps. [Scoop submitted by 'widgett.']

Back in February this year, this scooper mailed us with this interesting tidbit:

" My brother, Eric Stoltz's agent, said that his client is extremely close to signing on as Seth Gecko's best friend/vampire..." If it happens...all we'd like to say is: cool! [Sent in anonymously.]

Another scooper, a reader of Entertainment@Home magazine, read an article with Tarantino commenting on the sequel. According to the man himself, it should be a Reservoir Dogs-in-Texas style of action film, and takes place about three weeks after the ending of the first film. The bank robbers will wind up robbing the vampires nest, it seems... [Scooped by 'kwelshin', Mark Stewart and 'jkaminski'.]

And here's one to ponder over until we start seein' stills from the set...rumor has it Richie Gecko will return as a ghost that only Seth can see. Jeez Ritchie, that is some bad luck you're carrying around... [Scooped by James Furlong.]

[Also, thanks to the many others who've contributed news items and prodded us to make a page for the prequel. Here ya go!]

December 23, 1997... Robert Patrick will be leadin' a group of bank robbers into a Texas small town. What he don't know izzat one of his crew has a real bad allergic reaction to sunlight...if ya git what I mean. [Thanks to 'Plisskin', 'sexyboy_4' and anonymous.]

February 5, 1998... Not only did 'DeMzaLF' score us with the list of actors appearing in the picture, but they also wanted to remind us the picture was shot in South Africa. [As we said, 'DeMzaLF' did the bloody work.]

March 4, 1998... Bruce Campbell has a small role in this picture. Interested fans can check out the latest lowdown on Bruce's site at www.bruce-campbell.com/titles/duskdawn. [Thanks to 'The Tick', 'Jedi B.', First there was Elizabeth Berkley in Showgirls Now Tiffani-Amber Thiessen is all set to star in another naughty picture -- this one! [Reported by Christian and a whole load of others (names coming soon!)]

January 3, 1999... The film has a video release date of March 23. Although this is a straight-to-video release and not theatrical, we'll make this project an exception and mainatin the page until the release date. ['Picavideo' alerted us.]

January 12, 1999... Our first review of Texas Blood Money has arrived -- and it's a negative one. The non-spoiler review appears below:

"I work at a video store, and we just received an advance copy of From Dusk Till Dawn 2. The box art is similar to the first, but it has about six people's heads above the Titty Twister instead of two. The movie opened with Tiffani Amber-Thiessen and Bruce Campbell (to my surprise) acting out a Scream-like cameo. Well, I'm dissapointed to say, but this movie was beyond horrible. I don't think there is one thing in the movie that I liked. Being a fan of the original, this was a huge disappointment. I can't even in good faith recommend this to die-hard Dusk Till Dawn fans. The FX were terrible, the acting was horrid, and the only way it tied in to the first was a ten second shot of the Titty Twister. There is one other way it ties in, it's very minor. I was under the impression that Robert Patrick was to be reprising George Clooney's character, but he has nothing to do with him. Oh well, I hope the prequel is better than this pile of garbage. "

Our second review is long and filled with SPOILERS. You're going to have to uncover it with your mouse cursor to read the nitty gritties...

"Well, guys, I recently saw a screening copy of Texas Blood Money. Where should I start? 1st off, for all you Bruce Campbell fans, he, along with Tiffani-Amber Thiessen, are only in the first few minutes in the film. Bruce lasts for 2 minutes, and 90210-Girl for 3 1/2. They are lawyers who are attacked by vampire bats in an elevator. Second, we'll tackle who's in the cast. Robert Patrick's character is named Buck, NOT Seth. Seth and Richie are NOT in the film, only alluded to. They are mentioned only in passing. As it turns out, the SON of Earl McGraw, the ranger killed by the Gecko Brothers in the beginning of the original FDTD, is chasing a new group of bankrobbers. He is upset by the recent death of his father. The cool part is, he is played by James Parks, the son of Michael Parks, portrayer of Earl McGraw! A familiar face from the first picture is Danny Trejo, who now plays Razor Eddie, in contrast to the last film where he was Razor Charlie. Razor Eddie is the new barkeep at the Titty Twister. Also in the movie is Duane Whitaker as Luther, Bo Hopkins as Sheriff Otis Lawson, Muse Watson as C.W., Raymond Cruz as Jesus, and Brett Harrelson as Ray Bob.

"Now, to what all this is about. Luther has just escaped going to jail. He is friends with Buck. After Sheriff Lawson and McGraw shake down Buck for Luther's whereabouts, Buck gets a call from Luther. Luther wants to pull a job a.s.a.p. and tells Buck to get a crew together. Buck recruits C.W. , a down on his luck cowboy, Jesus, a psycho dog lover, and Ray Bob, an idiot. Together they head down to the Coyote Motel, where they wait for Luther to arrive with the plans for the bank. En route to the motel, Luther runs into a giant bat. His car busted, he starts to walk. Eventually, he stumbles onto a place called the Titty Twister. When he enters, he says 'Now, this is my kinda place!' Don't get excited, because this place isn't half as lively or as fun as it seemed in the first movie. In fact, hardly anyone is there. He gets a drink from Razor Eddie and tells him of his transportation problem. Upon hearing he hit a bat, Razor Eddie looks a little upset, but offers him a ride into town. Instead, he takes him back to the scene, where we finding a person who has been shot. The vampire identifies Luther as the guilty party and they proceed to turn him into a vampire. Needless to say, a now more thirsty Luther goes to meet with his pals to rob a bank. He wants the job to go down tonight, thanks to his new allergy to sunlight and convinces the crew it is because he is a wanted man and he thinks someone has already spotted him and called the cops. He winds up biting Jesus and C.W. When they screw up the alarms in the Mexican bank and the cops show, the blood bath begins. Eventually, Buck is the only robber not a vampire and he escapes into the arms of the police. This takes awhile and daylight begins to shine. Guess who starts to burn? They are then rapidly saved by the fastest solar eclipse I have seen. Everything is plunged into blackness. The four vamps now walk out of the bank, guns blazing at the cops, who die pretty quick. After a few minutes of carnage, only McGraw, the Sheriff, and Buck are left. But Buck has an 'original' (insert heavy sarcasm) idea. They go to face off with the vamps, armed only with shotguns. When the vamps are about to strike, they pull out stakes and slide them into the triggers of their guns, a la Jacob in the first movie. The meltdowns in this movie don't have the quality that they did in the first. Instead of melting into puddles of goo, they melt down to skeletons, steam and foam coming out of their hands, blood from their feet. In the end, only Buck, the Sheriff, and a vampiric Ray Bob are left. Ray Bob bites it when the eclipse decides it's time to high tail it outta the movie. How the sun moves so quick into position, hangs around for awihle, and then splits faster than the roadrunner is beyond me. Buck and the Sheriff are the only survivors. They talk for a bit, and since the Sheriff is pretty weak, Buck takes the car loaded with the bank's money and heads off into the sunrise.

"I was pretty disappointed with the movie. It's no wonder why they decided to not release this theatrically at all. No disrespect to Scott Speigel, but this doesn't live up to the first. None of the magic and fun were there. Anyone who sees this is better off plunking down $70 to see the director's edition of the first movie on laserdisc. The ZZTop music video of Seth being stalked by Santanico Pandemonium was a better sequel than this movie. My only hope is that Quentin himself writes a prequel that focuses on Seth and Richie's days before the Titty Twister and that he and George star in it. Well, that's about it. Okay, ramblers! Let's get rambling!"
