Comments: It's been suggested that Woo and Cruise may not work together on the sequel to Mission: Impossible, but rather this piece, which Woo wants to turn into the Chinese answer to Lawrence of Arabia. With M:I 2 set to film in January '99, this picture may or may not happen depending on how Woo and Cruise get along on M:I.

December 29, 1998... The story goes that Woo read the novel, and wanted to film it with Cruise. When he went to go buy the rights, Paramount already had them. And guess who has a deal with Paramount? How fortuitous. As with anything that has Cruise's name attached, you should expect this to be a while in the making. Woo is aware that working with Tom's schedule is a waiting game, Kubrick notwithstanding.
