Scoop Feedback:

[Page draft submitted by 'Widgett'.]

November 6, 1997... Film rights have been sold, and Mick Garris has been tapped to direct. Breaking the news first that Stephen King has been hired to adapt his book into a theatrical feature is the online entertainment magazine ZENtertainment, which covers the story in their September 22nd edition. [Scoop submitted by ZENtertainment and 'Widgett'; originally appeared in ZENtertainment. Additional coverage by 'cgoodman'.] April 10, 1998... We've let some Desperation scoops build up, so it's time for some spring cleaning.

Desperation will be distrubuted by New Line Cinema. Back ine arly February King was still adapting his novel into a script and Mick Garris was still set to direct. Garris will also produce the film, which is scheduled to go before cameras in May; after his job is done, Garris will then move on to direct a big-screen remake of classic ghost story chiller The Uninvited for Universal Pictures ( Raffaella de Laurentiis and Tom Thayer are the producers for this feature.) [Scoop by 'redknife2'.]

Ealy March: King has completed the screenplay and principal photography is scheduled to begin shooting in early July. It will probably be shot in Arizona and Los Angeles. We're told much of the creative staff of the recent ABC mini-series The Shining and Quicksilver Highway will be aboard, like Shelly Johnson (Director of Photography), Warden Neil (Costume Designer), Steve Johnson's XFX (Makeup FX and Prosthetics) and Nicholas Pike (Composer). [Our man Hans-Ake Lilja is there for us.]
